Fire - protection systems are divided into active and passive. Among active fire-technical equipment it can be included devices that are connected in most cases to a particular source and that can immediately respond to the occurred fire by an active reaction without any direct intervention. All other types of fire-protection systems are considered as passive ones. Nowadays, when we can encounter with large undivided space in many buildings (shopping malls, open-space offices, theatres, cinemas, etc.), it is important to have such devices to protect the facilities and buildings against possible fires, respectively to help easier and faster handle with it. This article attention deals with their division and characterization, but especially to their efficiency and reliability.
