The paper discusses the risk of contamination of potentially toxic Pb and Cd elements and their subsequent negative impact on the biotic and abiotic components of the environment. The ability of Pb and Cd to accumulate toxic effects on organisms is confirmed by a series of researches in the fields of biology, medicine, agriculture and other areas of interest. The paper describes the basic occurrence, characteristic, use of Pb, Cd and their specific risks affecting humans, animals but also important natural processes. It is important to ensure sufficient timing of the risk of contamination with these elements in good time.
