ON THE NEED AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THEORY IN SECURITY EDUCATION

Man, as the main subject of security, needs knowledge, skills, methodological and other tools to carry out an active role in safety management. He needs a theory that is a system of scientific knowledge, patterns, principles and methods of research, notions and definitions in the field of security, allowing quantitative and qualitative analysis of security factors, setting and identifying indicators and criteria for assessing the security and safety of reference objects and predicting the development of a security situation. Quality education for the security sector must be supported by the development of security theory. Its development, considering the specificities and current and future requirements for the security managers' competencies, is a challenge of this time.
