This paper deals with the most problematic area of massive wood construction from the fire protection point of view. The chink (the void between wooden logs) provides a path for the spread of fire. Two-constituent insulation is usually used to seal this void. Whether two-constituent insulation or a combination of insulation materials is significant from the fire resistance point of view is experimentally assessed.
